Summary
The Executive Director of Development reports to the Vice President of Advancement and manages annual giving, major gifts and capital campaigns; This role is is charged with meeting the organization’s targets and contributing to the overall growth of philanthropy with a reasonably sized prospect pool; This individual has a rich fund development background and has a strong track record of successful management.
Essential Functions
1. Participates as a member of the leadership team contributing to the overall planning and providing fundraising counsel to senior leadership as requested
2. Manages annual giving fund and ensures effective coordination between annual giving, legacy gifts and major gifts
3. Provides the essential leadership and guidance for team members to maximize productivity; set performance standards, evaluate performance; implement professional development activities for on-going mentorship
4. Manages the planning and implementation of the employee appeal, annual giving and caring families fundraising plans
5. Maintains a donor pool of leadership and major gift prospects to cultivate, solicit and steward
6. Hires, trains, motivates, supervises team members to achieve goal-oriented outcomes. Manages 1 direct report who helps with events and administrative tasks
7. Works closely with marketing, local churches, pastors and organizations in the community.
8. Attends resident events and special initiatives
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Bachelor’s degree required
Proven experience in major individual gift fundraising and in cultivating and soliciting prospects capable of gifts at the $100K+ level
Experience working in or overseeing an annual giving program
Broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising – able to participate in all aspects of the fundraising gift cycle
Strong understanding of the needs and interests of major donors to develop relationships
Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional areas
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills are required
Problem-solving, research and analytical skills
Solid relationship-building skills, able to interface with external constituents, such as donor advisors, and family members
Able to see and understand the objectives of the Individual Giving Group and to integrate their goals with those objectives
Able to initiate, analyze, monitor, evaluate and advance strategic advancement plans
Able to articulate the case for support so that individuals "buy in" to the vision/mission/goals EverTrue to be effective to secure gifts at assigned donor giving levels

A well-lighted and ventilated working area that has a temperature control system (air conditioning and heat). Minimal exposure to infectious diseases and blood borne pathogens. Minimal exposure to chemicals and hazardous waste. The work will have some short notice requests, timelines for completion of tasks or reports and some major projects extending over months. The employee will experience frequent travel by car with occasional overnight stays. Some exposure to outside weather conditions in the course of travel.

Pay grade: I, $96,165.00/year to $154,271.00/year
