Requirements
  • A college or university degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge and skills developed through less than two years of work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the logistical and administrative aspects of XLab programs, including the summer research fellowship and other initiatives as they develop.
  • Lead the planning and execution of XLab workshops and events, including venue setup, coordination with speakers or presenters, and ensuring smooth event operations.
  • Support student researchers in planning and organizing their research activities.
  • Identify students with potential and interest in XLab initiatives and connect them with research opportunities, fellowships, and mentors.
  • Create content for XLab announcements, website updates, introductory materials, and other communications.
  • Partner with the Financial Administrator to track program and grant spending against budget.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for external inquiries and route them appropriately.
  • Assist with researching funding opportunities, preparing grant proposals, and drafting or editing other written materials with moderate to high levels of guidance.
  • Assist with other administrative projects as needed and develop higher-level guidance and skills.
  • Perform other related work as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Similar work experience in a university, research institute, or nonprofit setting.
  • Writing experience in a dominant position, such as for websites, journalism, or communications.
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence, artificial intelligence safety, national security policy and norms, global catastrophic risk studies, or other security-related fields.
  • Experience as a teaching assistant or similar experience evaluating student work and providing feedback.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Comfort using online meeting platforms such as Zoom and Teams.
  • Familiarity with online sharing tools such as Box, Dropbox, and Google Drive.
  • Basic HTML for updating websites.
  • Familiarity with basic audiovisual equipment, including cameras, microphones, and recording controls.
