Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s preferred and 3-5 years of experience or equivalent relevant work experience; e.g. each year or work experience may be substituted for each year of education required
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and networking skills with ability to work independently and collaboratively with investigators and community members to establish long-term working relationships
  • Attention to detail is critical and must be self-directed with a solid base of management, community engagement and outreach skills
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and to demonstrate successful track records using analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate professionally and clearly
  • Working knowledge of all clinical research options at the Georgetown University Memory Disorders Program as well as compliance policies with respect to the clinical regulatory environment
  • Solids writing skills include grammar, punctuation, composition and spelling
  • Computer proficiency essential, with demonstrated knowledge of PC software programs including Windows, MS Office, internet and email
  • Experience in clinical research and/or medicine strongly preferred
  • Spanish-speaking ability required or strongly preferred
Responsibilities
  • Identify, build, and maintain relationships within communities currently underrepresented in Alzheimer’s clinical research in the Washington, DC, area.
  • Meet remotely and in person with key community stakeholders and community members to assess needs and learn how MDP can best educate and support all communities to allow for clinical research participation.
  • Develop programs and informational materials tailored to various communities, coordinating and participating in community events, meetings, and workshops.
  • Organize recruitment efforts independently and simultaneously in many different communities.
  • Serve as the primary contact and liaison between the community and GU’s MDP, and between GU’s MDP and the ACTC Recruitment and Retention (RER) Unit, to share knowledge and feedback regarding study enrollment opportunities, barriers and long-term strategies for success.
  • Attend weekly, monthly, and annual meetings with the ACTC RER Unit and participates in ACTC initiatives to share best practices around recruitment and retention of participants in ACTC clinical research.
  • Adhere to measurable metrics to evaluate and report on progress and allow for ongoing improvements to recruitment and retention efforts among communities underrepresented in clinical research.
