Requirements
- Must be a Certified Medication Aide in the State of New Jersey.
- Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant or a Certified Home Health Aide.
- Experience is not required.
- Experience dealing with elderly residents and providing daily support services such as bathing, dressing, and general assistance.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must demonstrate compliance with the Christian Health ASPIRE Standards of Performance.
Responsibilities
- Administer medication as prescribed by the health care provider in accordance with the five rights of medication administration.
- Assist residents with dressing and appropriate clothing selection.
- Maintain awareness of resident service plans and promptly implement changes in care needs.
- Apply assisted living principles, including resident choice, privacy, independence, and dignity in all interactions.
- Supervise and provide proactive daily care for residents.
- Assist residents with ambulation and advise the nurse of concerns.
- Provide all care privately and sensitively.
- Assist with showering and sponge bathing.
- Engage residents in conversation and promote a sense of home and community.
- Assist with oral hygiene, shaving, hair care, and makeup.
- Assist with meal service while monitoring residents’ special diets and needs.
- Assist with toileting and ensure residents are comfortable and dry.
- Demonstrate knowledge and use of standard precautions.
- Make scheduled beds.
- Return clean personal laundry to residents and handle residents’ laundry and linen needs when necessary or scheduled.
- Answer call bells promptly and courteously.
- Approach, interact with, and respond appropriately to memory-impaired residents.
- Deal positively with cognitively impaired residents.
- Transport residents within the facility as needed.
- Promptly report changes in resident status, behaviors, and other concerns to the nurse.
- Perform minor housekeeping tasks to maintain an orderly and neat facility appearance.
- Document accurately according to facility policy.
- Notify the nurse on duty when medication is not administered as ordered.
- Receive and transfer oral and written reports at shift change.
- Assist activity staff with daily activities by transporting residents, encouraging attendance, and providing active assistance when assigned.
Desired Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
