Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, is required.
  • At least 10 years of software engineering experience with a strong background in software quality, test automation, and/or DevOps/continuous integration and continuous delivery.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or technical lead role, successfully managing or leading a technical team.
  • Experience defining test strategy, automation frameworks, and quality processes for complex software.
  • Experience with modern development and continuous integration and continuous delivery tooling, including Git, GitLab, continuous integration pipelines, and containerization, as well as Linux environments.
  • Ability to work across engineering, test, and program teams to drive quality and reduce risk.
  • U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or asylee/refugee status is required.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a group of software quality assurance, automation, and DevOps engineers, including budget planning, staffing, training, performance evaluation, and career development.
  • Attract and retain staff and provide mentorship.
  • Define the team's roles, ways of working, and scope in coordination with software development and system test teams.
  • Set the strategy for test coverage, automation frameworks, continuous integration and continuous delivery, and laboratory infrastructure across programs.
  • Establish and own quality assurance standards, metrics, reporting, bug reporting and review processes, and go/no-go release recommendations to the system test team.
  • Lead software risk identification, tracking, and mitigation across programs.
  • Collaborate with software engineering, the system test team, programs, and information security to align quality goals and engineering processes.
  • Coordinate the team's work in an Agile environment, including scope, scheduling, and resourcing.
  • Interact with subordinate supervisors, customers, and functional peer group managers on matters between functional areas.
  • Establish and ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, and work plans, and interact with senior management.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced degree is desired.
  • Experience testing embedded, robotics, unmanned aircraft systems, or other safety- or mission-critical software is desirable.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and managing laboratory/test infrastructure, including hardware-in-the-loop environments, is desirable.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence-assisted development and test tooling is desirable.

Iran's recent attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and Red Sea have exposed critical shortages in defense supplies, particularly drones, precision weapons, and artillery shells. This situation presents opportunities for defense contractors positioned to scale production. AeroVironment secured a $186 million US Army order in February 2026 for Switchblade loitering munitions, part of a five-year contract with a $990 million ceiling. The systems enable small units to destroy armored vehicles without larger missiles. L3Harris Technologies reported orders of $7.8 billion in Q1 2026, with a book-to-bill ratio of 1.4 and record backlog of $40.7 billion. By Q2, backlog reached $42 billion on $7.3 billion in new orders, with revenue increasing 8% to $5.9 billion.
