Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Arts Administration, Film, Education, Jewish Studies, or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC's discretion.
  • At least 5 years of event experience, preferably in an arts-related field, is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing people or a program is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to drive a motor vehicle and pass a Motor Vehicle Record review are required.
  • Strong understanding of the interests and needs of adults, particularly those aged 60 and older, with the ability to translate ideas, feedback, and data into meaningful and innovative program experiences.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proven project-management abilities, guiding programs from concept through implementation while maintaining high standards and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with comfort engaging presenters, participants, instructors, partners, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of current events and cultural trends.
  • Ability to present Jewish culture and traditions in a pluralistic, welcoming, and inclusive manner.
  • Effective and proactive problem-solving ability, with adaptability to evolving needs and circumstances.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, and social media platforms, plus the ability to learn new project-management systems and technologies.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend programs according to the program schedule.
  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods, work in a busy and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities, and lift, carry, and transport event supplies and food weighing up to 30 pounds when needed.
Responsibilities
  • Design, plan, and implement a robust portfolio of Arts and Ideas classes, including identifying and recruiting qualified instructors, setting program fees, and crafting course descriptions within budget parameters.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for instructors and participants, ensuring timely communication, smooth program delivery, and excellent customer service.
  • Coordinate space usage by assessing room suitability, managing scheduling logistics, and aligning arrangements with building hours and operational needs.
  • Develop class schedules that maximize participation and minimize internal competition across offerings.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to promote programs through targeted outreach, email campaigns, and other strategic communications to drive enrollment.
  • Evaluate classes to assess their viability and budget goals.
  • Work with the Director of Arts and Ideas to develop and implement a year-round schedule of Arts and Ideas programs for adult audiences.
  • Identify, recruit, and collaborate with local and national speakers, authors, artists, and thought leaders who align with program goals and audience interests.
  • Manage program logistics, including scheduling, contracts, staffing, and coordination with marketing, facilities, and other internal teams.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners to support audience development and strengthen external collaborations.
  • Partner with the marketing team to promote programs through print, digital, and community-based outreach.
  • Work collaboratively with facilities, membership, and development departments to ensure smooth program operations and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Support Boston Jewish Film in planning and executing film festival programming as needed.
  • Advance the JCC's mission by offering programs that reflect Jewish values and culture in an inclusive and accessible manner.
  • Evaluate program performance, track participation, and use data and feedback to inform future planning.
  • Assist the Director of Arts and Ideas with planning, coordinating, and executing tasks supporting Boston Jewish Film Festival events.
  • Create a welcoming environment in which each individual feels seen and welcomed.
  • Participate as an essential member of the Adult Arts and Ideas/FEJL team.
  • Support the JCC Greater Boston mission, vision, and values through personal role modeling.
  • Participate in assigned staff meetings and trainings and contribute to overall organizational success.
  • Attend JCC Greater Boston all-staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
