POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Innovation Industries department at NYCEDC advises EDC and other city agencies on real estate and capital projects, regulatory reform, workforce initiatives and diverse entrepreneurship programs to ensure New York City remains a global leader in our tech, life sciences, clean tech, and creative industries. For example, we launch wet and dry labs, video game production facilities, or AI and robotics innovation studios for therapeutic discovery and healthcare tech.
The Innovation Industries department is organized by Industry vertical, with a central project support team providing shared resources across the department for deal execution, contract management, portfolio management, reporting, budgeting, technology and operations, onboarding recruits, setting team culture, and other operational responsibilities.
Reporting to the EVP of Innovation Industries, the Vice President of Operations will lead the Project Support Team (PST) and three direct reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a thought partner to Department Leadership on people and culture, operations, department budget, reporting, and strategic initiatives
- Oversee department communication processes and associated technology including SOPs, portfolio management, program reporting, department operations planning, CRM, and team professional development
- Oversee the Project Support Team in developing SOPs, managing contracting and amendments, procurement compliance, and invoicing
- Oversee budget preparation, tracking, and maintenance for department operations, our program, and our capital projects
- Oversee effective roll-out and adoption of CRM
- Oversee team building, culture development, and professional development opportunities for the department
- Assist department lead with HR efforts including onboarding staff, establishing HR standards for performance, reviews, and compliance matters
- Take on special projects as needed to improve department operations or take on new program areas
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7+ years of experience in management consulting, business operations, or program design and execution at a corporate, non-profit, or government entity
- Experience in operations and compliance
- Experience with adoption of technology and related operations processes, including a CRM and project management tools
- Experience working in cross functional teams and advising senior leaders
- Passion for coaching, professional development and building strong teams
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Demonstrated interest or experience in equitable economic development, urban planning, and/or public policy
- New York City residency is required within 180 days of hire
Salary Range
$130,000—$135,000 USD
