So, what’s the role?
We are looking for proactive Underwriting Associates to join our team and help ensure profitability and growth through expert risk assessment and selection. As a key player in our operations, you will evaluate and review applications for insurance coverage, working closely with assigned underwriters and regions. You’ll have the opportunity to guide new business, inspections, and renewals while supporting our claims and operations teams. Whether licensed or ready to obtain a license, you will play a critical role in navigating the personal lines insurance space, delivering sound underwriting decisions that support our growth and customer satisfaction.
A day in the life could include:
Achieving Performance Goals: Consistently meet or exceed set KPIs and stretch goals, maintaining a sharp focus on results and driving continuous improvement.
Delivering High-Quality Work: Ensure a minimum quality score of 88%, aligning with performance standards to contribute to the team’s overall success.
Supporting Underwriting Decisions: Collaborate with underwriters by reviewing submissions, endorsements, inspections, claims, and renewals, ensuring smooth processing within your level of authority.
Identifying Risk and Taking Action: Spot key underwriting risk factors and quickly escalate issues when necessary to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Handling Key Processes: Manage correspondence, verify data, and handle policy changes efficiently, making sure both customer-facing and internal processes run smoothly.
Enhancing Efficiency: Play a pivotal role in improving manual processes while guiding Operations agents to the right resources to ensure streamlined workflows.
Staying Adaptable: As the company grows, you’ll adapt to new tasks and responsibilities driven by procedural updates, automation, and product launches, always staying ready for the next challenge.
I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?
Availability to work 8am - 5pm PT.
At least one year of prior experience in the insurance industry.
Exceptional customer service skills and a natural ability to build rapport with both internal and external clients.
A clear and empathetic communicator who can effectively connect with others, ensuring a positive customer experience.
Motivated to constantly improve performance and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Deep understanding of customer behavior and its impact on loss potential.
Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment with minimal structure, easily adapting to new challenges.
Skilled at multitasking, with the ability to switch between tasks quickly based on team priorities.
Proficient in Google Suite and comfortable using multiple tools and windows simultaneously to get the job done.
