  • Education: High school diploma or GED. Verified active RPSGT or RST credential within 1 year of hire. Graduation from a CAAHEP accredited certification program or Associate's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum eighteen months supervised training or experience in polysomnography.
  • Other Credentials: AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider, Polysom Technologist License - NJ, RPSGT or RST
  • Knowledge and Skills: Basic computer skills and ability to use Windows-based technical software.
  • Special Training: Training or experience in EEG preferred. Respiratory Therapy or other complimentary disciplines preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Reviews patient's physical and mental limitations, current emotional and physiological status regarding the test procedures. Reviews pertinent medical and social history to determine testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or medical director and center protocols. Reviews all patient information and physician orders and contacts the physician as needed in order to obtain clinically relevant data.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize the need for and provide age-specific care in the assessment, treatment and education of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Documents all recordings accurately and completely as evidenced by departmental documentation tools and no requests for additional/missing information from interpreting physician or scoring staff.
  • Logs and charges all procedures accurately, documents all relevant patient information and provides a shift change report to ensure continuity of patient care in accordance with sleep center policy.
  • Explains routinely pre-testing, testing, and post-testing procedures and ensures that patient understands test/care plans; responds to patients needs and concerns in a courteous and helpful manner by providing appropriate information. Documents complete and accurate patient medical history, pre and post patient calibrations, flow volume loop calibration, Q-30 notes, and clinical events for each procedure according to sleep center procedure.
  • Applies consistently scalp electrodes according to the 10-20 system of electrode placement and applies other electrodes and recording devices according to standards or sleep center policy. Checks impedances and ensures accurate patient recordings according to sleep center policy. Prepares and calibrates Capnography, Oximetry, Respiratory Inductance Pleythsmography, and (PAP) Positive Airway Pressure equipment to determine proper functioning, makes adjustments as necessary as evidenced by accurate signals on the patient record.
  • Utilizes the appropriate recording montage, obtains a high quality recording by recognizing artifact and taking immediate steps to eliminate it (or document the reason why artifact could not be eliminated). Recognizes sleep stages, seizure activity, EEG/EKG waveforms and apneic events. Identifies accurately significant events and appropriately adjusts CPAP pressures according to center policy. Documents technical notes routinely pertinent clinical events.
  • Completes accurately and consistently PAI testing ordered by a physician. Performs consistently accurate, artifact free, and well documented MSLT/MWT recordings according to center procedure. Checks impedances and maintains adequate tracing quality (especially chin EMG signal). Initializes accurately and downloads Autoset, overnight pulse oximetry, Actiwatch actigraphy and PLMS actigraphy equipment ensuring applicable testing protocols are utilized.
  • Performs timely patient equipment checks and PAP mask fits ensuring proper fit and accurate settings. Documents and reports timely and accurately findings to interpreting physician by established sleep center protocol. Performs, downloads, and scores accurate interpretable adult portable cardiorespiratory recordings and provides a technical report by established sleep center procedures.
  • Utilizes the appropriate recording montages and parameters for seizure and parasomnia studies in accordance with center protocols and/or physician special instructions. Performs expert delivery of CPAP(continuous positive airway pressure) according to center procedures ensuring patient comfort and compliance as evidenced by resolution of sleep disturbances (arousals, apneic events) and adequate oxygen saturation levels and no requests for repeat titrations.
  • Performs expert delivery of Bi-level positive airway pressure according to center procedures ensuring patient comfort and compliance as evidenced by resolution of sleep disturbances (arousals, apneic events) and adequate oxygen saturation levels and no requests for repeat titrations.
  • Scores polysomnographic recordings and generates timely and accurate reports for physician interpretation. Performs accurate sleep stage, arousal, limb movement, cardiac dysrhythmia, and respiratory disturbance scoring according to professionally accepted guidelines and/or center protocols. Generates accurate and timely tabulated reports. Completes documentation, manages and archives recordings to ensure proper patient data management according to center protocols.
  • Completes technical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient and effective department operations within established guidelines. Maintains consistent accuracy and legibility in the performance of all pertinent clerical duties such as patient log entries, billing procedures, report filing and patient appointment documentation.
  • Performs routine maintenance, detects equipment malfunctions, troubleshoots, makes minor repairs and reports timely major problems to appropriate personnel according to center procedures. Maintains work areas and keeps equipment clean and in proper working order according to established guidelines. Assists in the maintenance of center databases and participates in patient support group and community education activities.
  • Delivers efficient and high quality patient care utilizing effective problem solving and leadership skills to overcome potential obstacles. Deals routinely with patients in a calm and reassuring manner. Handles effectively difficult patients without assistance. Complies with BRPT Standards of Conduct. Demonstrates the ability to analyze complex situations and apply policy as evidenced by incident handling and patient and physician satisfaction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, willingness to adapt to changing department demands. Demonstrates effective written and spoken communication skills.
  • Oversees non-registered technicians and trainees in all aspects of their duties ensuring quality, accuracy, and completeness or recordings. Seeks out and attends additional internal and external classes/training to maintain professional development as evidenced by a minimum of 10 continuing education credits documented per year.

Capital Health opens OB/GYN office in Princeton. Monday, April 6, 2026 Capital Health OB/GYN, a comprehensive women's health practice that is part of Capital Health Medical Group, is pleased to announce the opening of Capital Health OB/GYN - Princeton. This new office is located in the space previously occupied by Women's Healthcare of Princeton at 800 Bunn Drive, Suite 202, in Princeton, New Jersey. Wednesday, February 4, 2026 Capital Health Maternal Fetal Medicine, part of Capital Health Maternity Services, has opened a new office located at Capital Health - Hamilton (1401 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road, Suite 200 in Hamilton, New Jersey). The new Capital Health Maternal Fetal Medicine - Hamilton, located directly across from Capital Health's OB/GYN - Hamilton office, expands access to the system's OB/GYN support services and clinicians that were previously available only at the practice's office at Capital Health Medical Center - Hopewell, including board certified perinatologists, master's-prepared genetic counselors, registered nurses, a certified diabetic educator, and registered sonographers. Capital Health Receives Five-Year Grant Award from Merck Foundation to Launch New Initiative to Improve Cardiovascular Care in Trenton

Capital Health receives five-year grant award from Merck Foundation to launch new initiative to improve cardiovascular care in Trenton. Capital Health has been awarded a grant through the Collaborative for Equity in Cardiac Care, a five-year initiative funded by the Merck Foundation aimed at enhancing access to high quality, person-centered health care for people living with heart conditions in the United States. As one of 11 awardees in the United States, Capital Health will receive $1.7 million over five years to develop its Cardiac Opportunities for Resilience and Empowerment (CORE) Program as part of its Institute for Urban Care. The program's goal is to help to close gaps in the delivery of cardiac care to underserved communities in Trenton, New Jersey. "Capital Health has a long history of working with community partners to address the health care challenges that impact Trenton residents every day," said Dr. Eric Schwartz, executive director of Capital Health's Institute for Urban Care and director of the CORE Program. "Our CORE Program aims to connect people living with heart conditions with care providers, community education programs, and guidance for healthy eating, all of which will enable them to better self-manage their heart health." Residents in the City of Trenton face a number of systemic barriers and inequities. Life expectancy is 4.4 years less than other measured cities, 26% percent of the population lives below the poverty line, and the incidence of cardiovascular disease, such as hypertension, impacts more than one third (36.1%) of the community. Through the Merck Foundation's Collaborative for Equity in Cardiac Care, Capital Health's CORE Program will build sustainable community partnerships to address barriers to cardiac care and improve outcomes and quality of life for people with heart conditions. Capital Health will work with Trenton Health Team and other community partners to manage and monitor the CORE program. "Cardiovascular disease continues to be the number one cause of death for men and women living in the U.S., and its burden hits under-resourced communities the hardest. By addressing the medical and social needs of people living with heart conditions, the Collaborative for Equity in Cardiac Care will have a significant, lasting impact on the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities across the country," said Kalahn Taylor-Clark, vice president and head, Social Impact & Sustainability, Merck. Capital Health recently opened its new, state-of-the-art Al Maghazehe Heart and Vascular Center at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, marking a significant expansion that covers 12,650 square feet with three operating rooms: one cardiac surgery room for open-heart procedures, one hybrid operating room, and one catheterization laboratory for interventional procedures. The new center is part of the larger Capital Health Heart and Vascular Institute, which offers comprehensive care with a multi-specialty approach at locations throughout the greater Mercer and Bucks county region.
