Requirements
  • An Associate degree in nursing is required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Current registered nurse licensure in the State of California is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required when appropriate.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
Responsibilities
  • Remain accountable to the unit Manager and/or the department Director.
  • Adhere to identified nursing standards of practice.
  • Demonstrate competence annually in critical behaviors for the assigned area.
  • Maintain intravenous therapy competency.
  • Demonstrate competency in medication administration and the required knowledge before administering medications.
  • Plan, direct, implement, and evaluate care for each patient.
  • Delegate nursing care implementation to licensed nursing staff or assign it to unlicensed staff within licensure, certification, competency, and regulatory limitations.
  • Direct care provided by the Licensed Vocational Nurse, Certified Nursing Assistant, nursing student, and/or logistics technician.
  • Understand and participate in the organization-wide Performance Improvement Program through orientation, education, departmental and interdepartmental quality control, performance improvement, and quality planning activities.
  • Demonstrate the IRAISE values in professional and patient care interactions.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Manager, Director, or Clinical Lead Registered Nurse.
  • Utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care to patients.
  • Provide care for acutely ill patients with medical/surgical diagnoses or maternal-child health needs.
  • Function as a member of interdisciplinary and nursing teams.
  • Carry out established nursing procedures and perform nursing care for patients with complex, multisystem needs.
  • Contribute to the overall forward movement of the unit and organization.
  • Apply verbal and non-verbal interpersonal and communication skills to achieve organizational service goals, customer satisfaction, and a positive work environment.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred but not required.
  • Current registered nurse experience in the specific service or department is preferred.
  • Current registered nurse experience in the assigned area of nursing is preferred.
  • One year of acute care experience is preferred.
