Root Access provides AI-native tools for embedded systems engineers to streamline firmware development. Its main product, the Hideout IDE, is a universal IDE that lets engineers configure peripherals, generate code, and compile firmware across multiple toolchains, with an AI agent named Seb to help generate and validate code. It differentiates itself by using hardware datasheets and schematics (via Altium) to produce customized, validated firmware rather than generic templates, and targets robotics, defense, and industrial automation. Its goal is to shorten the firmware development cycle and deliver reliable embedded software for mission-critical hardware, with clients including Mitsubishi Electric and East West Manufacturing and a $2.1 million pre-seed round in 2025.

What believers are saying

  • Over 100 engineers from Mitsubishi, Lockheed Martin joined open beta in 2025.
  • $2.1M pre-seed from AlleyCorp, Forum Ventures fuels 2026 growth.
  • NVIDIA Inception, AWS Activate programs accelerate product development.

What critics are saying

  • Cadence, Synopsys bundle AI tools into suites, eroding market by 2027.
  • Renesas restricts Octopart API access, crippling data pipeline in 2027.
  • $2.1M runway depletes by Q4 2026 without Series A.

What makes Root Access unique

  • Hideout IDE ingests Altium schematics via API for custom firmware generation.
  • Seb AI agent validates code using Octopart datasheets to prevent hallucinations.
  • Targets underserved embedded engineers in robotics, defense, and automation sectors.
