Requirements
  • Completion of a PhD, or other relevant and equivalent qualification and/or experience.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, together with the ability to maintain current membership with a relevant professional association.
  • Autonomous, strategic decision-making informed by nursing, midwifery, and broader health policy and regulatory frameworks.
  • Evidence of educational leadership relevant to workforce development and demonstrated experience leading innovation.
  • For the Level D position, an established national reputation in scholarship or research aligned with SALHN priorities or the College's research strengths, evidenced by sustained high-quality publications and attraction of competitive internal and external grants.
  • For the Level E position, significant experience in education and workforce methodology.
  • For the Level E position, demonstrated experience engaging with and developing flexible methods to deliver teaching programs through e-learning platforms and other communications technologies.
  • For the Level E position, an established international reputation in scholarship or research aligned with the College's research strengths, evidenced by sustained high-quality publications and attraction of several competitive external grants.
  • Current completed Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and Gender Based Violence Declaration satisfactory to the University.
  • Maintenance of a current Working with Children Check satisfactory to the University.
Responsibilities
  • Foster a high-performance culture that supports strategic priorities and delivers outcomes for patients, consumers, and the healthcare workforce.
  • Lead the development and delivery of education, workforce development, research, and leadership initiatives.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships that enhance professional development opportunities and support a sustainable nursing and midwifery workforce.
  • Provide visionary leadership, governance, strategic support, and professional guidance for nursing and midwifery services.
  • Collaborate as an equal member of SALHN and College of Health and Enablement leadership teams and committees to strengthen academic-health service partnerships and achieve shared outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with the Nursing and Midwifery Community of Practice and relevant SALHN committees and groups to progress SALHN values, vision, and strategic direction.
  • Contribute to education and workforce development activities at SALHN and Flinders University, including assisting with recruitment, mentoring, and support of early- and mid-career nurses and midwives and postgraduate students.
  • Guide and enact clinical governance and foster sustainable internal and external partnerships, policy development, scholarly activity, and leadership initiatives.
  • Introduce and govern new and emerging nursing and midwifery competencies, such as nurse prescribing.
  • Lead, supervise, and participate in multidisciplinary teams focused on education, workforce, and research, and contribute to respectful, trusting, and collaborative working partnerships.
  • Contribute to clinical and corporate governance and workforce planning to support safe, high-quality, and sustainable services.
  • Deliver student-centred teaching and develop teaching materials that support emerging nursing and midwifery professionals and healthcare leaders.
