Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in structural, civil, or mechanical engineering is required.
  • At least 15 years of experience is required.
  • A Professional Engineer registration in at least one U.S. state is required.
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Strong technical writing skills, including reports and proposals, are required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including communication with clients, staff, and regulators, are required.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare proposals by developing work scope, cost estimates, and project schedules.
  • Manage projects by monitoring project progress, providing technical assistance, and interfacing with clients.
  • Analyze concrete dams and appurtenant structures using computer software and hand calculations.
  • Conduct field inspections of project sites to assess existing conditions.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to clients.
  • Serve as engineer of record for design and/or analysis projects.
  • Visit projects to review site conditions for inspections and construction/design oversight.
  • Perform and review engineering analysis, guide design methods, and provide technical assistance to staff and clients for dam and reservoir projects.
  • Mentor junior engineers in engineering analysis, design, and computer modeling.
  • Assist the group with client management responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree with emphasis in structural, civil, or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with finite element analysis software such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, SAP2000, or STADD.
  • Experience participating in risk analysis of dams.
  • Experience performing seismic analysis of dams and appurtenant structures.
