  • ABB raised 2026 guidance after 20.2% Q2 operational EBITA margin.
  • The July 2026 Advantics deal strengthens DC, data-center, microgrid, and EV pipelines.

What critics are saying

  • Schneider Electric and Siemens own stronger data-center relationships and cooling-adjacent ecosystems in 2026.
  • ABB admitted 800VDC data-center backlog starts only in late 2027 or 2028.
  • If ABB misses AI-data-center power platforms, Schneider and Siemens lock hyperscaler contracts by 2028.

What makes ABB unique

  • ABB’s electrification installed base spans factories, buildings, grids, and EV infrastructure globally.
  • Its June 2026 NVIDIA Omniverse collaboration makes ABB the AI-data-center power specialist.

ABB launches IP66/Type 4X drives for Australia's harsh industrial environments

ABB has launched ACS580, ACH580 and ACQ580 drives with IP66/Type 4X protection for Australia's demanding industrial environments. The drives are tailored for food and beverage, HVACR, and water and wastewater applications exposed to dust, water, humidity and outdoor weather. The IP66/Type 4X design allows drives to be positioned closer to applications, potentially reducing installation costs by eliminating protective enclosures and shortening motor cable runs. Built-in features include coated circuit boards, integrated EMC C2 filtering, DC choke for harmonic mitigation, and Safe Torque Off. ABB emphasises that IP66 rating only covers dust and water ingress protection. Environmental characteristics like UV, corrosion and chemical resistance require separate assessment. The drives are available in power ratings from 5.5 kW to 22 kW.
