Requirements
  • A master's degree is required; combined experience and education may substitute for the minimum education requirement.
  • At least 3 years of experience in higher education is required.
  • Experience in a medical school is preferred.
  • Student personnel administration skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Design and coordinate programs that support student retention, academic success, and individualized support throughout the medical school curriculum.
  • Assess individual students' learning styles, strengths, and weaknesses, prescribe individual academic work plans, and formulate plans to improve performance.
  • Ensure students are aware of learning tools and resources provided by the Keck School of Medicine.
  • Design and deliver programs focused on study skills, learning skills, and critical thinking skills, including time management, knowledge organization, and test-taking strategies.
  • Assist with the development and management of student retention programs and provide a comprehensive plan for the curriculum, EOR examinations, and PANCE examinations.
  • Manage tutorial and academic support services; assist with tutor recruitment, training, and supervision; and assist with evaluating the services.
  • Develop and implement systems for monitoring students' academic progress and provide statistical information, trends, and reports to enhance programs and service delivery.
  • Maintain student records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and document sessions, meetings, and other communications.
  • Serve as part of the student affairs team and perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • A doctoral degree is preferred.
  • Five years of experience is preferred.
  • A Ph.D. in student personnel administration, education, counseling, or a related field is preferred.
