Responsibilities
  • Support the business and group leader in implementing, maintaining, and administering first line of defense client tax programs, including FATCA/CRS, tax slips, and related business operations within P&BB Canada.
  • Make recommendations to senior leaders on strategy and new initiatives based on an in-depth understanding of the business and group.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on FATCA/CRS requirements, Parts XVIII and XIX of the Income Tax Act, Intergovernmental Agreements, and Canada Revenue Agency guidance on the Common Reporting Standard.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Part II information returns and associated Canada Revenue Agency guidance.
  • Manage external vendor relationships involving complex regulatory or legal interpretations of tax regulations.
  • Evolve the P&BB Canada FATCA/CRS Governance Program and enhance governance practices for broader client tax accountabilities.
  • Coordinate best practices and filing activities for shared legal entities with the Tax Governance Office and other operating groups.
  • Coordinate with Technology and Operations partners supporting systems, processes, and vendor relationships that generate and file information returns to the Canada Revenue Agency.
  • Lead complex initiatives involving technology changes, reporting, monitoring, controls, regulatory changes, annual maintenance, processes, systems, and data supporting regulatory reporting and recordkeeping.
  • Represent the business or group on governance and risk working groups and forums and provide regular updates.
  • Monitor and advise on risk requirements within the defined risk appetite for end-to-end client tax processes.
  • Maintain playbooks and procedure documentation for P&BB processes performed in branches, call centres, and headquarters.
  • Monitor industry and legislative developments with Tax Governance and external advisors to update programs.
  • Lead annual business-as-usual activities for FATCA/CRS reporting, annual monitoring and client outreach, and tax slip maintenance.
  • Build an inventory of regulatory requirements governing end-to-end tax processes and recordkeeping.
  • Advise other risk teams on data risk, transaction-processing risk, and controls required to ensure integrity in tax programs.
  • Network with industry contacts to gain competitive insights and best practices.
  • Recommend business priorities, advise on resource requirements, and develop roadmaps for strategic execution.
  • Respond to inquiries from the Canada Revenue Agency and support P&BB and Tax Governance during regulatory examinations.
  • Manage resources and lead strategic initiatives to deliver business and financial goals.
  • Conduct independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure stakeholder alignment.
  • Break down strategic problems and analyze data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators, associated reporting, and escalation processes.
  • Lead change management programs, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment.
  • Build awareness, knowledge, and skills and provide communications, practical tools, ongoing support, and presentations to promote risk identification and management.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of business strategies, objectives, products, services, stakeholders, business processes, and infrastructure to identify and manage risk exposures from Canada Revenue Agency regulatory enforcement.
  • Recommend adjustments to programs, policies, and processes in accordance with the Risk Appetite Statement, governance, and corporate policy.
  • Support internal and external audits or regulatory examinations and assist with action plans to resolve identified issues.
  • Support the development and delivery of training and awareness programs to increase compliance with risk-management requirements.
  • Operate at a group or enterprise-wide level as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Apply expertise and creative thinking to address complex, non-routine, or ambiguous situations.
  • Implement changes in response to shifting trends.
  • Perform other broader work or accountabilities as assigned.

Radiant Logistics secures $200M revolving credit facility with improved terms and 2031 maturity

Radiant Logistics has completed an amended and restated $200 million secured revolving credit facility, refinancing its existing facility that was due to mature in August 2027. The new facility extends the maturity to 2031 and features improved terms, including lower interest rates and an expanded accordion feature increased from $75 million to $100 million. The facility will be used to fund acquisitions, capital expenditures, and potentially share buybacks. Borrowings accrue interest at SOFR plus 137.5 to 212.5 basis points, reduced from previous pricing. Bank of America serves as administrative agent, with Bank of Montreal and PNC Bank acting as co-syndication agents. As of 31 March 2026, the company had $25 million drawn on the previous facility and $39.6 million cash on hand, resulting in no net debt.

Vireo Growth secures $65M credit facility, expandable to $105M

Vireo Growth Inc., a vertically integrated cannabis company, announced a $65 million senior secured asset-based revolving credit facility through certain indirect non-cannabis subsidiaries. The facility can expand to $85 million and further to $105 million via a $20 million accordion feature. Bank of Montreal leads the five-year facility as administrative agent, with BMO Capital Markets as arranger and bookrunner. Borrowings carry interest at Term SOFR plus 1.75% to 2%, or base rate plus 0.75% to 1%, depending on average availability. The company will use proceeds to refinance existing debt, fund working capital and capital expenditures, and finance permitted acquisitions. The facility is secured by substantially all assets of participating non-cannabis subsidiaries.

Charles River Associates expands credit facility to $400M with six-bank syndicate

Charles River Associates has expanded its credit facility to $400 million through a six-bank lending syndicate. The five-year agreement includes a $75 million term loan and a $325 million revolving credit facility, replacing a previous $300 million facility set to mature in August 2027. The revolving facility can be reduced to $250 million between 16 July and 15 January each year when working-capital requirements are lower. CRA will use proceeds to repay outstanding borrowings, support working capital, fund growth investments, and cover general corporate purposes. The lending group includes Bank of America, Citizens Financial Group, Eastern Bank, and Beacon Bank & Trust, with BMO and M&T Bank joining as new lenders. The expanded facility provides additional liquidity as the consulting firm invests in its global economic, financial, and management advisory operations.

High Tide closes $29M credit facilities with BMO to cut costs and boost flexibility

High Tide Inc. has closed C$40 million in senior secured credit facilities with Bank of Montreal, increasing financial flexibility and lowering capital costs. The facilities comprise a C$25 million revolving credit facility with a three-year term and a C$15 million delayed-draw term loan. The company used C$6 million from the revolving facility to repay its existing loan with ConnectFirst Credit Union. The remaining funds will support working capital, acquisitions, and investments. The delayed-draw term loan is intended to refinance High Tide's existing C$15 million second-lien debentures. High Tide operates Canna Cabana, Canada's largest cannabis retail chain with 229 domestic locations and one international store. The facilities are secured by substantially all company assets and subject to customary covenants.

Peakhill secures $350M credit facility to expand multi-family lending across Canada

Peakhill Capital has secured a $350 million credit facility for its flagship Peakhill Income Opportunity LP to finance multi-family housing projects across Canada. The facility was arranged by Bank of Montreal, Toronto-Dominion Bank, and National Bank of Canada as co-lead arrangers, with three additional banking partners participating. The financing will allow the fund to grow its lending portfolio to more than $1.2 billion nationwide. Peakhill will continue focusing on bridge financing for multi-family projects transitioning to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation financing, as well as CMHC-insured construction loans. The fund's portfolio currently includes more than 230 mortgage investments across Canada. Toronto-based Peakhill manages a servicing portfolio exceeding $17 billion and has financed more than $4 billion across 600 transactions year-to-date.
