Ryder Q2 revenue beats expectations at $3.35B, but margins squeeze amid dedicated and supply chain challenges

Ryder reported second-quarter revenue of $3.35 billion, exceeding analyst estimates of $3.30 billion, representing 5% year-on-year growth. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $3.73, beating expectations of $3.69. Despite the revenue beat, the market reacted negatively as operating margin remained flat at 8.5% compared to the prior year. Management raised full-year adjusted EPS guidance to $14.60 at the midpoint, a 1.2% increase. CEO John Diez attributed performance to the company's balanced growth strategy and highlighted improved conditions in used vehicle sales. He noted the resilience of Ryder's transformed business model, stating the company's contractual base has proven to be a key driver over the cycle. Analysts questioned management about dedicated contract renewals, rental fleet expansion plans, and the impact of business transformation on earnings seasonality.
