Requirements
  • HNC, HND or Degree qualified
  • At least 5 years practical experience in a similar role within a scientific or advanced engineering environment
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience operating complex equipment manually and via control software
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identify and resolve potential issues
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously as well as taking initiative
Responsibilities
  • Electro-Optic experiment assembly
  • Quality Control checks, data logging and analysis
  • Develop and execute best practice procedures
  • Operation of lab equipment including cryostats, vacuum pumps, hand tools etc.
  • Equipment repair and troubleshooting: hands on capability to fix software, hardware
  • Fault finding of test equipment (in the UK and worldwide)
  • Plan maintenance and upgrades of core test equipment to ensure maximum up-time
  • Supervision of apprentices and contractors
