Requirements
  • Completion of an approved Paramedic training program and current registration as either a Primary Care Paramedic or an Advanced Care Paramedic in Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • A minimum of five years of experience working as a paramedic, including a minimum of three years in a progressively responsible leadership role or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in emergency medical services management, information technology, finance, and human resources.
  • Comprehensive understanding of applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation and regulations related to ground ambulance and emergency medical services.
  • Experience leading and facilitating training and working groups.
  • A valid Class 4 driver's license in Newfoundland and Labrador or equivalent.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and solve problems with discretion.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer and patient service and supporting business growth.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of inspiring and motivating others.
  • Skill in leading and developing staff.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and dispute-resolution skills.
  • Working knowledge of standard business computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Availability for regular business hours, with some irregular hours expected.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the effective and efficient day-to-day 24/7 operations of the EMS service.
  • Direct and provide oversight for the workforce while supporting relationships with external partners on major strategic projects.
  • Support the senior management team as needed.
  • Ensure the maintenance of ambulances, support vehicles, and medical equipment.
  • Promote a culture of reporting among staff.
  • Implement changes to improve patient care and minimize risk while monitoring patient safety trends.
  • Manage staff performance, handle complaints, and oversee daily operations according to company policies.
  • Participate in recruitment and ensure policies are understood and followed.
  • Ensure staff and public safety through compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor legislative and technological developments.
  • Evaluate departmental operations and report results to senior leadership.
  • Manage paramedic resources and collaborate with other emergency services and stakeholders.
  • Assist with investigations and report findings to the General Manager.
  • Coordinate major incidents and disaster management.

  • Post-secondary education in business administration.
