Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or a related technical field is required.
  • At least 7 years of manufacturing operations experience is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading supervisors or equivalent operational leaders is required.

Responsibilities
  • Lead all manufacturing, logistics, and warehouse operations for the Livermore facility.
  • Deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations while achieving customer, quality, productivity, and financial objectives.
  • Achieve plant safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance targets through effective leadership of production, logistics, warehouse, and maintenance operations.
  • Lead production execution to meet schedule attainment, on-time delivery, lead-time, inventory, and customer service objectives.
  • Monitor and improve labor productivity, throughput, scrap, rework, downtime, and overall equipment effectiveness metrics.
  • Establish staffing plans and workforce deployment strategies while meeting labor cost and productivity objectives.
  • Ensure production capacity, resources, and organizational structure align with business demand and operational goals.
  • Develop and implement action plans to address performance gaps and achieve annual operating plan commitments.
  • Champion a safety-first culture and achieve plant safety objectives, including injury reduction, near-miss reporting, corrective action completion, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality management systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement in product quality, defect reduction, customer complaints, and cost-of-poor-quality metrics.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, capacity, and cost performance.
  • Sponsor Kaizen events, 5S programs, and process improvement activities to eliminate waste, improve workflow efficiency, and increase operational effectiveness.
  • Establish performance management systems and visual controls to track results and drive daily accountability across the operation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency, scalability, and customer responsiveness.
  • Develop and manage departmental operating budgets to achieve productivity, cost, and profitability objectives.
  • Monitor labor, material, inventory, maintenance, and overhead costs and implement actions to improve financial performance while maintaining service and quality standards.
  • Support capital planning by identifying operational improvement opportunities, developing business cases, and leading implementation of approved projects.
  • Use operational and job-costing data to improve estimating accuracy, product profitability, and business decision-making.
  • Build a high-performing operations organization by setting expectations, establishing accountability, and developing supervisory and frontline leadership capabilities.
  • Lead workforce planning, succession planning, talent development, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Directly supervise two Production Supervisors and one Production Planner.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Customer Service, Estimating, Project Management, and Sales teams.
  • Communicate operational performance, risks, and improvement opportunities to plant leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Support strategic business initiatives, new product introductions, capacity expansion projects, and operational transformation efforts.
Desired Qualifications
  • SAP experience is preferred.
  • Experience in metal manufacturing processes is preferred.
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification is preferred.

Armstrong expands design capabilities with Eventscape acquisition

Armstrong World Industries has acquired Eventscape, a design and fabrication company specialising in complex architectural features for ceilings, walls and facades. The deal expands Armstrong's custom design capabilities following previous acquisitions of Zahner, Arktura, Turf and 3form. Founded in 1999, Eventscape employs 150 professionals across facilities in Toronto and New York, generating approximately $30 million in revenue in 2025. The company uses parametric modelling and advanced fabrication techniques across materials including metal, wood, resin and glass. Recent projects include JP Morgan Chase's New York headquarters and David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center. Armstrong funded the acquisition through available cash and its revolving credit facility.
