We expect our Senior SDETs to have a good working knowledge of exploratory testing/context driven testing and understanding of what good test automation looks like.
We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test I who is a critical thinker and a powerful advocate for our users. You’ll be embedded in a fully cross functional team working closely with your teammates to determine what needs to be built, identify risks early and apply the appropriate test approach.
Senior SDETs at Collibra are responsible for:
- Gaining an understanding of the product under test and using this understanding alongside your testing experience to question and identify bugs and improvements to the product features delivered.
- Designing, development and execution of automation scripts and Test Automation frameworks
- Working on the continuous integration of your scripts (Jenkins) and driving the team on the way towards continuous testing
- Proactively engaging with peers on testing cross-product dependencies and alert engineering teams / stakeholders about risks and unaddressed dependencies that could impact product quality
- Working closely with software/test engineers and product managers across the organization to understand the context and drive automation and testing to meet objectives
- Taking part in Exploratory Testing sessions to help improve the overall Product Quality
- Coaching developers and testers on good testing practices and techniques within your agile team and the wider Test Engineering community
You Have:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in software testing & test automation
- Experience in representing testing/quality in an Agile environment is crucial. You should be able to describe your inputs in Agile ceremonies and the entire SDLC in past roles as well as how you have helped to shape a test-first mentality
- Experience in Java and/or JavaScript and hands-on experience with automated testing tools (Selenium, Cypress, JMeter, Rest Assured, etc.)
- Ability to identify flaws in the testing process, toolset, infrastructure and to propose and drive necessary improvements
You Are:
- Passionate about testing and quality
- Experienced in building Test Automation Frameworks and in continuous delivery/continuous testing environment
- A proactive communicator who enjoys collaborating with fellow coworkers
- Experienced in building and maintaining CICD pipelines
- Able to evangelize test strategy and make any necessary changes based on the context and evolving objectives
- Able to communicate clearly in different levels of technical expertise, such as non technical discussions with Product Managers or technical conversations with Engineers.
- Excited about new technologies and actively provide mentorship to other engineers with the goal of sharing knowledge
Reporting to the Manager, Test Engineering the Measures of Success are:
- Within your first month, you will be onboarded with our products and practices and start getting insights into our test strategy and the team’s pain points, and begin getting involved in your team’s testing practices.
- Within your third month, you will you will have a good understanding of the team, their challenges and priorities
- Within your sixth month, you will be a productive member of the global Test team, participating in testing, coaching and mentoring developers and testers on effective software testing practices
Compensation for this role
The standard base salary range for this position is $115,200 - $158,000 max per year. This position [is/is not] eligible for additional commission-based compensation. Salary offers are based on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, and location.
