Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree with two years of related work experience in academic advisement, student affairs, student services, counseling, mentoring, or a related area, or a combination of education and experience equal to six years.
  • Ability to work successfully in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to analyze information, problems, situations, practices, and procedures; interpret data; reason logically; establish facts; identify issues; develop recommendations and alternative courses of action; and evaluate outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate professionally, diplomatically, empathetically, and tactfully using the appropriate method and level.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direction, information, personal attention, care, and support to students developing academic and career goals, including paths to limited-enrollment programs.
  • Assist with academic advising for prerequisites and program courses using multiple communication methods and technology-enabled advising practices.
  • Track students' progress through their programs and provide guidance and assistance as needed.
  • Interpret and explain requirements for vocational certificates, terminal degrees, and transfer degrees.
  • Respond to student inquiries and information requests by phone, email, Zoom, social media, and other channels.
  • Participate in recruitment and marketing events.
  • Maintain and distribute recruitment materials, including flyers and website content.
  • Present to prospective students and parents about programs, career opportunities, educational and career pathways, and employment potential.
  • Process and evaluate application and admissions materials and respond in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate student records while protecting the privacy and security of sensitive information in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate with Academic Chairs and staff to support admissions to limited-enrollment programs, registration and enrollment issues, student progress monitoring, data provision, and tours.
  • Complete reporting requirements for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Network with area schools and industry partners.
  • Collaborate with the Counseling Center, Career Resources Center, Office for Admissions, and other campus offices.
  • Maintain records of operating procedures and share position-specific knowledge about the collegewide enterprise resource planning system and related processes.
  • Provide guidance on standard operations and established departmental procedures as needed.
  • Serve the college through events, committees, and other college activities.
  • Comply with college rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws governing public employees, including document retention, document destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Provide courteous, informed, accessible, and professional service.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Student Personnel, Educational Leadership, Counseling, or a relevant field.
  • Experience with college academic advising.
  • Bilingual ability.
