Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health and the unit or department.
  • Maintains a current State of Alabama registered nurse license.
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Maintains Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Nursing Core Course certifications where required for the applicable area.
  • Has at least 1 year of experience.
Responsibilities
  • Assess patient needs, develop and revise individualized care plans, monitor progress, prioritize care, and serve as a patient and family advocate.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-specific care, including growth and development principles, unit-specific procedures, and equipment use.
  • Function as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, or clinician; coordinate care, delegate appropriately, and communicate with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Support hospital and nursing goals, practice compassionate care, maintain legal and ethical standards, and foster respectful relationships.
  • Maintain accurate and consistent patient records that meet regulatory standards and adhere to hospital policies, attendance, and safety guidelines.
  • Engage in professional development, attend training, mentor staff and students, and partner with leadership to identify growth needs.
  • Participate in committees, peer review, and performance improvement initiatives, and apply evidence-based practice to resolve issues effectively.
  • Ensure efficient use of supplies and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
