Hotplate provides a pre-order pickup platform for home-based chefs and bakers in the food industry. It enables food creators to open orders at the start of the week and manage pickups at the end, reducing ingredient waste, labor needs, and the costs of leases. The platform handles order management, pickup reminders, and payments, helping creators streamline operations and reach higher profit margins (often above 50%, versus typical 5% for traditional brick-and-mortar venues). Compared with traditional competitors, Hotplate focuses on the growing market of home-based food businesses that emerged during COVID-19, offering an infrastructure that supports organic growth with minimal upfront investment. Its goal is to empower food entrepreneurs to scale their businesses efficiently without expensive storefronts.
