Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 4–5+ years of related experience in supplier quality or quality assurance in a complex, high-volume manufacturing environment, including audit experience.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations such as ISO 9001, CFR, and IATF.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques and process and quality controls for mechanical components.
  • Proven understanding of data-driven, statistical quality-control and quality-assurance problem-solving methodology.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to supplier sites approximately 10–20% of the time.
  • Ability to perform the essential physical functions, including standing, walking, sitting, reaching, pulling, pushing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting or moving up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to work in office and manufacturing environments and follow prescribed safety procedures, including use of required personal protective equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Track supplier key performance indicators, defect rates, and delivery-quality metrics.
  • Qualify and bring up inspection and tester vendors to meet testing demand.
  • Monitor supplier alignment to new product introduction schedules to ensure predictable and stable mass-production volume ramp.
  • Plan, lead, and conduct on-site or remote audits to evaluate vendor quality systems and manufacturing capabilities, including Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers.
  • Drive failure analysis by defining component-failure analysis goals, coordinating complete failure-analysis work at supplier facilities, summarizing and presenting results, issuing and managing Supplier Corrective Action Reports through closure, verifying vendor corrective and preventive action effectiveness, and implementing lessons learned.
  • Recover costs for supplier-caused incoming quality control failures, establish financial accountability with suppliers, and improve operating margin through systematic cost-of-poor-quality reduction.
  • Establish and track supplier-quality key performance indicators, including recovery of failures and cost of poor quality, timely chargebacks, and reduction of repeat failures.
  • Implement statistical techniques, Six Sigma, Lean principles, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, and Statistical Process Control across the supply chain.
  • Develop continuous-improvement plans with suppliers and track and report progress.
  • Partner with internal engineering and supply-chain teams and suppliers to assure new-product readiness, meet quality and reliability metrics, and support new-product introduction and design transfers.
  • Establish and lead activities with internal and external teams to define component-level quality expectations.
  • Compile and evaluate data to determine acceptable manufacturing-process limits.
  • Serve as a quality representative to internal teams supporting customer-quality and internal-quality requirements.
