Job Description

The HDD Wafer Manufacturing Engineering group focuses on ramping new designs from NPI stage to High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) with both high yields and exceptional quality. The Wafer Yield Engineering team plays a key role during the volume ramp as well as sustaining the product in high volume manufacturing.  The HDD Wafer Yield Engineer is responsible for wafer level parametric correlation to final slider level performance & reliability.

We are looking for a self-driven and motivated team member to join the Wafer Yield Engineering group at the Great Oaks (San Jose) Wafer Manufacturing site.

Your tasks

• Analyze wafer parametric results and correlate to final slider level performance and/or reliability. For changes in wafer parameters (such as mean and/or variability) quickly assess impact, establish containment, and drive to root cause understanding with corrective action implementation with corresponding wafer process module owner.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (process, integration, equipment, quality and operations) focusing on maximizing finished slider yield through wafer parametric optimization.
• Work in a fast paced environment where it is critical to balance both meeting demand and quality requirements.
• Lead or participate in 8D (Eight Disciplines) for problem solving

Required skills and qualifications

• Master’s degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical  Engineering, Materials Science, or Data Science.
• Experience working in cross functional teams
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 

Preferred skills and qualifications

• Experience working in a highly complex manufacturing environment
• Experience in programming languages, like MatLab and/or Python
• Experience in problem solving methodologies, such as DMAIC and 8D
• Experience with project management.
