Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the propriety of accounting entries related to the financial reporting of tax credit investment portfolios and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Manage accounting and financial statements for multiple legal entities, including intercompany transactions, minority interests, revenue recognition, and high-level book value in liquidation accounting.
  • Track and report investment performance using return on investment, internal rate of return, and net present value.
  • Coordinate and oversee financial statement audits and internal controls.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data related to tax credit investments.
  • Identify process improvements for managing tax credit projects and investor reporting.
  • Assist team members with tax credit compliance and oversight, including program-specific eligibility rules, deadlines, and documentation.
  • Work with legal and tax advisors to structure investments and tax credit claims.
  • Prepare investor reports covering tax credit investment performance, projected returns, and compliance status.
  • Manage investor communications and provide insights into the financial health and progress of investments.
  • Coordinate the distribution of tax credits to investors, including tax-related reporting and disclosures.
  • Review models and other constructs for developing products in the tax credit investment space.
  • Present summaries of product ideas while balancing risks and opportunities.
  • Analyze financial scenarios for opportunities and business models.
  • Manage budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting for the NTCS division, including consulting fee revenue, advisory fee revenue, project ownership, investment performance, and operating expenses.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, solar development partners, third-party investors, tax consultants, legal advisors, and internal teams on tax credit reporting and compliance.
  • Collaborate with accounting, finance, and project teams to execute investment strategies.
  • Prepare and review cash flow and income statement forecasts.
  • Report historical results and future projections using key performance indicators, structural efficiencies, dashboards, and financial analysis.
  • Identify risks related to tax credit investments and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure financial operations and transactions comply with applicable laws and investor agreements.
  • Lead, mentor, and guide junior accounting and finance staff.
  • Monitor changes in generally accepted accounting principles related to high-level book value in liquidation accounting, variable interest entities, proportional amortization, and minority interest accounting.

Omaha's Grapple raises $1M to make data analytics accessible for nontechnical users

Omaha-based Grapple has raised $1 million in a pre-seed round led by Invest Nebraska and Nelnet, with participation from MOVE Venture Capital and Nebraska Angels. The startup develops an AI-powered platform that makes data analytics accessible to nontechnical users without requiring data engineering expertise. Founded in 2025 by Jack Sellwood, Grapple's software pulls information from various sources including databases, spreadsheets and apps like Salesforce and Quickbooks. The platform enables sales, marketing and finance teams to compile reports independently, saving businesses time and money. Grapple was recently accepted into California's LAUNCH Accelerator and has secured early customers including Nebraska startups Guardify and Workshop. The company will use the funding to expand its team, marketing efforts and go-to-market strategy whilst remaining based in Omaha.
