Requirements
  • A doctorate degree, PhD, MD, or MD/PhD from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation.
  • A PhD in a biological related science, MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in high-throughput screening, next-generation sequencing, or bioinformatics.
  • Experience in cell culture of primary and stem cells.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of cellular and molecular biology.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety standards.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Careful attention to detail and the ability to accurately follow experimental protocols.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and priorities to achieve desired goals.
  • Ability to think creatively, solve problems, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and perform statistical analyses.
  • Ability to make sound decisions consistent with the essential job functions.
Responsibilities
  • Design and execute experiments using molecular and cell biology techniques.
  • Process human biological samples, including isolating cells from blood and tissues and storing and shipping samples.
  • Perform molecular biology procedures, including DNA and RNA isolation, polymerase chain reaction, gel electrophoresis, quantitative polymerase chain reaction, digital droplet polymerase chain reaction, next-generation sequencing, and other procedures as needed.
  • Perform next-generation sequencing library preparations, including whole-genome sequencing, whole-exome sequencing, and 10x RNA sequencing.
  • Perform cell culture procedures, including culture of primary cells, flow cytometry, single-cell analysis methods, and other techniques as needed.
  • Implement, troubleshoot, optimize, and develop new assays, making innovative contributions to laboratory procedures.
  • Assist with training research methods and approaches for the laboratory group.
  • Maintain detailed written records of work performed.
  • Analyze experiment results and findings, including data collection, data entry, statistical analysis, and graph creation.
  • Produce written reports detailing experiment and analysis results and draft manuscripts for publication.
  • Present oral and poster reports at laboratory, local, and national meetings.
  • Assist with the composition of grant applications.
  • Assist in maintaining and monitoring equipment and procedures for quality control.
  • Review pertinent medical literature.

  • Experience with induced pluripotent stem cells and organoids.
