Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent GED is required.
- A clear Level II background screening is required.
- A valid Unarmed Security Officer License is preferred.
- The ability to read, write, and speak English is required.
- First Aid and CPR Training Certificate is required.
- Completion of 10 hours of online Department of Children and Families training is required.
- A Good Moral Affidavit or Attestation is required.
- Drug testing is required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations are required.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff is required.
Responsibilities
- Monitor building entrances and exits, verify that only authorized individuals enter the facility, and maintain visitor logs.
- Maintain visibility during dismissal and parent pick-up procedures, ensuring students are released only to authorized adults.
- Patrol active areas such as the cafeteria, gymnasium, media center, and specific classrooms.
- Respond to alarms, investigate disturbances, and assist site staff with emergency protocols such as fire drills and lockdowns.
- Document and report safety concerns, maintenance issues, and behavioral incidents to the site manager or school administration.
- Assist parents with questions and address concerns in a calm, courteous manner.
- Ensure doors, windows, and gates are secured and locked at the end of the evening.
- Attend YWCA staff training and weekly site meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work Monday through Friday during school days, with hours that may vary to accommodate staff-to-child ratio coverage.
Desired Qualifications
- One to two years of experience working with children or in a school or campus security setting is preferred.
- Spanish and Creole language skills are helpful.
