Requirements
  • PhD degree in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical engineering, biological sciences or equivalent and direct experience with proteomics analysis and MALDI/LC-MS operation, OR Master's degree in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical engineering, biological sciences or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of work experience in proteomics analysis and MALDI/LC-MS operation
  • Expertise in sample preparation, LC-MS operation/maintenance/troubleshooting, MALDI-TOF operation/maintenance/troubleshooting, and data analysis
  • Expertise in quantitative proteomics, such as targeted protein quantitation, global expression profiling, and TMT-based multiplexed workflows, to perform characterization of protein in complex sample matrices
  • Familiarity with common proteomics software and informatics pipelines
  • Ability to deeply understand processes, as well as adapt them in response to changing technologies and demands
  • Detail-oriented approach to meet varied co-occurring demands
  • Communicate clearly and timely with multiple stakeholders across multiple projects
  • Perform data analysis, interpretation, and presentation to key stakeholders
Responsibilities
  • Operate and improve processes for proteomic analysis of Ginkgo's strain libraries
  • Perform LC-MS equipment (e.g. nano-flow UHPLC, Orbitrap, qTOF) maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Perform MALDI-TOF equipment (e.g. Bruker MALDI-timsTOF) maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Refine and improve sample preparation and assay methods, including LHS automation
  • Develop processes for verification and quality control of assays to ensure low CV and high reproducibility
  • Use Ginkgo's Software and Automation infrastructure to execute assays and strain tests
  • Collaborate with software engineers to ensure that all generated data is captured, stored, and analyzed in Ginkgo's LIMS
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with timsTOF is a plus
  • Experience with biological samples and fermentation is a plus
  • Experience with laboratory automation is a plus
  • Experience with scripting, databases, and automating data processing pipelines is a plus
  • Experience working with a mixed team of process engineers, biologists, and software developers
