Requirements
  • Completion of 8 quarter (5 semester) or 80 clock hours of college-level accounting courses, or two years of work experience in an accounting field.
  • Three years of experience in a full-cycle payroll office.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel.
  • A strong customer-service orientation.
Responsibilities
  • Submit payroll processes, review results, audit reports, correct errors including historical adjustments, batch loads and relocation, and resolve discrepancies in the Accrual Plan Balance Transfer Report.
  • Calculate and process salary adjustments, bonuses, retroactive pay, and other special payments.
  • Process off-cycle payments for terminations and other applicable situations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws, collective bargaining agreements, and OHSU policies and procedures.
  • Review overpayment forms, calculate overpayment amounts, establish repayment plans with employees, follow through on repayment execution, and respond to employee overpayment inquiries.
  • Set up and maintain union dues deductions, overpayment deductions, retroactive payments, final process dates, and cell phone allowances.
  • Review negative accruals in alignment with changes in bargaining agreements.
  • Maintain payroll-related forms and rules, backup documentation, and appropriate approvals for payroll processing.
  • Respond to complex inquiries regarding pay, payroll deductions, taxes, and payroll policies from timekeepers, employees, departments, and outside sources through the Ask Payroll Service Center, departmental email, and phone line.
  • Review and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist employees with direct deposit setup and inquiries.
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees regarding payroll-related processes.
  • Participate in payroll projects, process-improvement initiatives, and system implementations.
  • Establish earnings, deductions, and leave items for payroll in collaboration with the Timekeeping team.
  • Implement payroll-related changes in multi-state labor laws, bargaining agreements, and OHSU policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
