Requirements
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Certification, or, for a new graduate, an exam date supplied before employment; certification must be obtained within six months of hire and the employee must complete a six-month probationary period.
  • Completion of a certified Surgical Technologist, Operating Room Technician, or comparable training program, or experience as an Operating Room Technician or Surgical Technologist in an acute care setting.
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Occasional weekend, night, and holiday availability is required.
  • Employees must live within a commutable distance to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Responsibilities
  • Provide crucial support to physicians throughout a wide range of general surgery procedures.
  • Function as a scrub person, circulation assistant, and member of the surgical team.
  • Assist in the care, preparation, and maintenance of supplies and equipment in the Operating Room.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience as an Operating Room or Surgical Technician in an acute care setting.
