Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science program in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, including comfort using tools and physically assembling and disassembling equipment.
  • Familiarity with fluid mechanics, basic P&ID drafting, and standard hazard evaluation processes such as HAZOP basics.
  • Basic understanding of chemical and process engineering fundamentals.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and P&IDs.
  • Ability to work autonomously, communicate proactively, maintain high attention to detail, and follow a rigorous safety mindset.
Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on plant support by executing the planned maintenance backlog, managing liquid levels, pulling process samples, and documenting operational parameters.
  • Execute mechanical adjustments and retrofits with hand tools.
  • Assist the Operations Engineer in troubleshooting anomalies.
  • Manage projects for unit upgrades, including reviewing and updating P&IDs, conducting hazard and safety evaluations, and communicating with suppliers to procure new components.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience operating, building, or maintaining a laboratory setup or pilot plant.
  • Background knowledge of or strong interest in Direct Air Capture or carbon removal technologies.
  • Previous experience dealing with suppliers and component procurement.

Phlair uses a patented liquid sorbent system to capture CO2 from the air in a capture module. The captured CO2 is either permanently stored or turned into carbon-neutral or carbon-negative products. It partners with hard-to-decarbonize industries—such as heavy manufacturing and energy generation—selling the technology, offering long-term services, or pursuing joint ventures that leverage carbon credits. Its goal is to reduce atmospheric CO2 and help industries reach net-zero by providing scalable, practical decarbonization and carbon-credit monetization.
