HXMX's AI matches expert geoscientists in Williston Basin study with Devon Energy

Devon Energy and HXMX will present joint research at IMAGE 2026 demonstrating that an automated interpretation platform can pick formation tops as reliably as expert geoscientists across a large Williston Basin dataset. The study, authored by Devon Energy's Drew Kreman and Kevin Pelton alongside HXMX's Alan Lindsey, benchmarks automated formation-top picking against traditional manual correlation. The research introduces Triangulated Cross-Validation (TCV), a method that checks each automated pick against every other well and reports consistency in feet. Key formations were picked with sub-foot spreads from a single reference well. The HXMX platform allows geoscientists to calibrate the system on verified wells, then extend consistent picks across a basin. The presentation is scheduled for 19 August 2026 at 8:00 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.

Former Devon Energy Board Member Jacinto Hernandez appointed CFO at Cadiz, Inc. - what this means for DVN investors.

Former Devon Energy Board Member Jacinto Hernandez appointed CFO at Cadiz, Inc. - what this means for DVN investors. 27 July 2026, 8:12 AM Key leadership transition signals new Cross-Sector connections. Devon Energy (NYSE: DVN) shareholders might be intrigued by news out of Cadiz, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDZI) this morning: Jacinto J. Hernandez, who served on Devon's board, has just been tapped as Cadiz's new Chief Financial Officer, effective September 1, 2026. With a 26-year capital markets pedigree - including 22 years at the Capital Group and a track record steering strategy, capital allocation, and M&A - Hernandez takes over for retiring CFO Stanley E. Speer, ensuring continued financial stewardship during Cadiz's ambitious growth phase. Hernandez's background highlights strategic depth. Why does this matter to DVN investors? Hernandez's broad experience extends well beyond Cadiz. His board service at Devon Energy encompassed audit, governance, and ESG committees - roles that shape executive strategy for major energy players. At Capital Group, he was instrumental in research leadership for one of the world's largest growth mutual funds, bringing an investor's eye to operational and capital decisions. The table below summarizes his qualifications and potential impact: | Key Experience | Implications for Devon Energy (DVN) | | Devon Energy Board Member, Led ESG and Governance | Deep focus on sustainable strategy and investor priorities | | Capital Group/World Investors Partner (22 Years) | Long-term value creation and institutional-grade capital decisions | | Experience in M&A, Capital Strategy | Proven expertise to assess energy sector partnerships and opportunities | | Ongoing Cross-Sector Board Involvement | Networked perspective linking water solutions, energy, and ESG trends | What could change for DVN and its investors? While Hernandez transitions from DVN board member to CFO of a water solutions company, his skillset - and the evolving relationship networks he brings - could influence Devon's strategy indirectly. As companies across resources and infrastructure confront overlapping challenges (from ESG to capital markets), shared leadership experience may foster greater alignment or new opportunities across sectors. Investors often watch these leadership moves closely for hints of advisory continuity, shared market intelligence, or eventual partnership exploration. Takeaways for Devon Energy shareholders. Hernandez's move is more than a simple executive handover at Cadiz. For Devon Energy shareholders, it's a reminder of the cross-pollination between energy and water infrastructure, especially as sustainability and capital discipline take center stage in both industries. Investors may want to monitor future strategy announcements from both Cadiz and Devon, as shared boardroom DNA can sometimes foreshadow collaborative moves or similar approaches to risk and growth.
