Responsibilities
  • Set the roadmap and model best practices for product experimentation and A/B testing at Philo
  • Lead the evolution of our experimentation platform (GrowthBook) and establish gold-standard practices for experiment design, analysis, and interpretation
  • Partner with product leadership to identify and prioritize high-impact experimentation opportunities across the user journey
  • Establish and evangelize methodological standards for causal inference and statistical testing
  • Build frameworks for measuring product feature impact and user engagement metrics
  • Coach and mentor data scientists on advanced experimentation techniques and product analytics
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure robust data instrumentation and tracking
  • Lead complex analytical projects focused on user behavior, content discovery, and platform engagement
  • Develop self-service experimentation tools and dashboards for product teams
  • Champion a culture of data-driven product development and continuous testing
  • Represent the data science team in product strategy and roadmap discussions

Philo is the latest streaming company to expand its free channel lineup, adding six new offerings for customers on Tuesday of this week. The six channels feature a variety of genres, including sitcoms, dramas and police procedurals. In total, Philo now offers more than 130 live, ad-supported channels available without subscription. The six additions to the Philo library are: * Heartland * The Conners * Nash Bridges * Caught in Providence * True Crime * Shockwave The first four channels are self-explanatory. They feature episodes of those shows: Heartland, a popular Canadian TV drama; The Conners, the Roseanne spinoff which came to a close last April; Nash Bridges, where you can watch Don Johnson be a cop again; and Caught in Providence, starring Judge Frank Caprio and his encounters with the public. True Crime is for "those that can't get enough murder, mystery, and insights into the minds of the most notorious criminals in history," while Shockwave is billed as a "brand new FAST channel packed with bingeworthy, high-octane stories of survival." Philo previously broadened its subscription service. Earlier this month, Philo unveiled two subscription plans-Essential and Bundle+-for $25 and $33 monthly. Essential includes more than 70 live TV channels and 120-plus free streaming channels, along with over 80,000 movies and shows on demand, unlimited DVR with one-year storage and a seven-day free trial. Bundle+ provides all of that, as well as AMC+, access to HBO Max and the discovery+ app. "This is about giving customers genuine choice," said Philo CEO Mike Keyserling. The service announced on Tuesday that it is rolling out some new subscription offerings that allow customers more flexibility on the channel lineups and add-on options. The new Philo Essential plan includes 70+ live TV channels, 120+ free streaming channels, 80,000+ movies and shows on demand, unlimited DVR with one-year storage, and a newly reinstated 7-day free trial. It is priced at $25 a month. The Philo Bundle (formerly called Philo Core) includes everything in the Essential plan plus AMC+, access to HBO Max (Basic with Ads) and discovery+ apps. However, Bundle+ will not include a free trial. Premium offerings Hallmark+, Starz, ALLBLK, Movies & More and MGM+ can each be added for an additional cost. While there are no news or sports channels included on either plan, the live channel lineup includes a wide range of entertainment-oriented networks, including the various Hallmark Channels, A&E, The History Channel, The Food Network, HGTV, Accuweather, BBC America, Animal Planet, BET, CMT, Comedy Central, HSN, Magnolia Network, Game Show Network, Discovery, Paramount, TLC, the various MTV networks, QVC, Lifetime, Investigation Discovery and many more. Shortly after that announcement, Philo eliminated its one-week free trial, meaning that if cost-conscious consumers wanted to sample the service, they would have to pay the $33 fee. However, effective Tuesday, March 10, Philo is now offering a new Essential plan for just $25 per month. This subscription tier is essentially the old Core plan - which is now being called Bundle+ - but without the additional streaming services. So, cord-cutters can get access to the original Philo service, including over 70 live TV channels, more than 120 free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels, more than 80,000 on-demand titles, and unlimited DVR storage for up to a year. The Essential package is now available on Philo.com, and will roll out to third-party platforms in the coming days and weeks. Additionally, Philo has reinstated its seven-day free trial for anyone interested in sampling the Essential plan. So, once again, you will be able to see if the mix of traditional cable channels that Philo offers fits with what you are looking for in a live TV streamer. The Essential and Bundle+ plans join the Philo Free Channels streaming option to give "customers a clear, flexible path from free streaming to live TV to premium, all within one affordable platform." These package changes come less than one week after the company announced that Mike Keyserling would step into the role of Philo's CEO. Keyserling has said that he is committed to continuing Philo's consumer-first ethos with a focus on affordability and package flexibility. "This is about giving customers genuine choice. Essential reflects our commitment to keeping live TV accessible and affordable, and doing it without compromise," Keyserling said.
