Requirements
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in privacy, data protection, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role involving direct oversight of privacy and/or security engineering teams.
  • Professional certifications such as CIPP, CIPT, CIPM, or similar.
  • Familiar with global privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), regulations, and frameworks.
  • Strong technical acumen, with a solid understanding of technical privacy control implementation and practices.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and drive compliance across diverse business units.
  • Advanced degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience working as an appointed Data Protection Officer or in a similar role where GDPR compliance was a key responsibility.
  • Certification as a Data Protection Officer by a recognized authority (e.g., CIPP/E, GDPR DPO Certification) is highly desirable
Responsibilities
  • Strategically develop, enforce, and lead a global privacy program, collaborating with product, engineering, legal, and compliance teams to ensure robust privacy practices.
  • Spearhead the integration of privacy by design principles in product development, working hand-in-hand with engineering to implement advanced privacy features and controls.
  • Lead compliance efforts, interpreting complex privacy laws and regulations to develop policies that align with Robinhood's business practices, particularly focusing on CCPA, GDPR, and other global privacy mandates.
  • Lead the team in conducting privacy impact assessments in collaboration with product and engineering teams for new and existing services, identifying and mitigating risks while ensuring privacy compliance.
  • Champion privacy awareness across the organization, initiating training and education programs to embed privacy considerations in all business processes.
  • Direct incident response for privacy breaches in coordination with security, legal, and compliance teams, overseeing mitigation strategies and regulatory communications.
  • Keep abreast of technological advancements and regulatory changes, advising senior management on privacy trends and compliance strategies.
  • Promote a culture of privacy and data protection within Robinhood, ensuring privacy considerations are a core aspect of organizational decision-making and product innovation.
  • Escalate and provide visibility to urgent or emerging Privacy concerns to Business General Managers (GMs) and executive management.
  • Act as the point of contact for the supervisory authorities for all data protection issues, including breach reporting and coordination during investigations.
