Tower Loan to host inaugural Golf Tournament benefiting Palmer Home for Children. FLOWOOD, Miss. - Tower Loan will host its inaugural golf tournament benefiting Palmer Home for Children on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Country Club of Canton in Canton, Mississippi, marking a new addition to the company's longstanding annual giving campaign. Now in its ninth year supporting Palmer Home, Tower Loan has raised more than $400,000 for the organization through the generosity of its employees, vendors, and community partners. This year, Tower has set a goal of raising $70,000 during its annual giving campaign, which runs August 18 through October 30. The inaugural golf tournament expands those fundraising efforts and brings to life an event Tower Loan has envisioned for several years. With the tournament still a month away, $30,300 has already been raised through the event and contributed to Palmer Home, putting the tournament close to its $35,000 fundraising goal. "Supporting Palmer Home has become an important tradition at Tower Loan, and this tournament is an opportunity to take that support even further," said Michael Scarborough, Director of Marketing at Tower Loan. "We've talked about hosting an event like this for several years, so it's exciting to see it come together with the support of our employees, vendors, and community partners. Our hope is to build on that support and make this an event we can continue for years to come." The tournament will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m., followed by a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Lunch and an awards presentation will follow play. Team registration for the inaugural event has already reached capacity, while hole sponsorship opportunities remain available. Tower Loan is also accepting raffle item donations. Throughout her career with Tower, she has held several leadership roles, including Branch Manager in De Soto, Missouri; Co-Branch Manager and Senior Branch Manager in St. Charles, Missouri; Branch Manager in St. Peters, Missouri; and Senior Branch Manager in Fairview Heights, Illinois. Thornton brings more than 25 years of experience across software, infrastructure, cloud, aerospace, financial services, and healthcare innovation. He began his career as a software engineer in the automotive industry, where he developed and managed inventory and e-commerce platforms. He later earned a degree in aerospace and computer sciences, during which he designed and built software to support flight school operations and flight-time tracking systems, and managed the university's aerospace Information Technology (IT) infrastructure. Thornton subsequently held consulting roles in the financial services sector, where he specialized in student loan consolidation systems, before transitioning into healthcare technology. In this domain, he led the development of one of the first fully web-based Ambulatory Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) platforms, supporting thousands of clinics nationwide. Following a successful exit, he continued to advance healthcare technology by modernizing post-acute, long-term, and rural healthcare systems, while overseeing cloud-based operations for rural hospital networks. His work encompassed initiatives across software, cloud hosting, DevOps, CloudOps, FinOps, and SecOps. Prior to officially joining Tower Loan as Chief Technology Officer in December 2024, Thornton worked with the company in a consulting capacity, where he led and supported several key technology initiatives. These efforts included the development and enhancement of online lending, credit applications, eSignature capabilities, document upload functionality, and regulatory system updates. Since joining Tower Loan full-time, Thornton has continued to build on this foundation, advancing the company's technology strategy and supporting scalable, long-term growth.
