Requirements
  • Strong background in retirement product or annuity valuation under generally accepted accounting principles and/or statutory accounting, including experience supporting quarterly closes and/or forecasting.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major actuarial modeling platform, such as GGY AXIS or MG-ALFA, and complex projection models.
  • Solid data and tooling skills, including SQL and Excel/VBA, with the ability to trace results from model output through to the ledger and financial statements.
  • Ability to communicate complex actuarial concepts to non-actuarial partners in finance, controllership, and business leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities around key reporting deadlines.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries designation is required, with active enrollment in the Actuarial Development Program.
  • Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a similar background requiring modeling, programming, or quantitative analysis.
  • Three to five years of actuarial experience.
  • Knowledge of actuarial business functions, statistical methods of analysis, actuarial models, actuarial software, and databases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Visual Basic for Applications within Access and Excel, analytical software such as Tableau, and programming languages.
Responsibilities
  • Support quarterly generally accepted accounting principles and statutory valuation, financial reporting, and forecasting for Retirement Solutions products, including fixed and indexed annuities, stable value, and protected retirement or in-plan guarantee products.
  • Maintain and enhance GGY AXIS models and related tools, ensuring methods remain robust, efficient, and well controlled.
  • Partner with Pricing, Controllership, and Valuation to support transactions such as reinsurance and block transfers and strategic projects that improve capital efficiency and reduce earnings volatility.
  • Identify and implement process and model improvements that enhance transparency, consistency, and speed to decision.
  • Compile, categorize, and analyze data.
  • Construct testing tools and analyze product calculations.
  • Construct, maintain, and conduct actuarial, projection, and valuation models.
  • Perform financial reporting and analysis.
  • Lead pricing and implementation of products.
  • Analyze risks for lines of business.
  • Establish reserves and other valuation items under statutory, generally accepted accounting principles, and tax accounting regimes for products.
  • Perform reinsurance analysis and pricing.
  • Develop and support communication strategies and recommendations to leadership.
  • Lead peer reviews to increase collaboration, ensure quality work, and drive innovation.
  • Maintain relationships with business customers and build new relationships.
  • Lead onboarding and training for new associates on standard work processes.
Desired Qualifications
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries designation or progress toward it.
  • Experience with LDTI and/or recent reserve methodology changes for annuity business.
  • Prior exposure to reinsurance structures and their impact on valuation and earnings.
  • Progress toward Fellow of the Society of Actuaries with relevant life and annuity exams.
