Requirements
- A Ph.D. in clinical psychology or neuropsychology from an American Psychological Association-accredited clinical psychology program is required.
- Completion of an American Psychological Association-accredited two-year internship program is required.
- Two years of post-doctoral experience as a clinical neuropsychology fellow is required.
- Texas psychologist licensure from the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists is required.
- The role requires sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English to perform essential job functions, especially those affecting patient or employee safety or security.
- The role requires knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations, and standards pertaining to psychological services.
- The role requires the ability to communicate medical information, test results, diagnoses, and proposed treatment in an easily understood manner.
- The role requires knowledge of psychological counseling techniques, educational development, test administration and interpretation, interviewing, and psychosocial and developmental assessment skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform clinical interviews, conduct diagnostic assessments, score neuropsychological tests, and write reports considering variables that may affect patient treatment plans and outcomes.
- Provide feedback to patients and family members regarding treatments and interventions.
- Participate in case conferences with referring physicians and interprofessional care coordination meetings at the request of providers, patients, families, or staff.
- Oversee neuropsychological evaluations and assessments and help create a standardized level of care with the interprofessional health care team.
- Deliver neuropsychological treatment to patients in the brain injury or neuro-cognitive program.
- Complete timely documentation and communication for all members of the interprofessional care team.
- Report accidents promptly and correct minor safety hazards; communicate identified workplace hazards to peers and management.
- Participate in business development activities to establish referral pipelines.
- Help establish new clinical care models and treatment programs specific to brain injury or neuro-cognitive deficits.
- Maintain awareness of current and changing trends, techniques, methods, and research in neuropsychology and psychological therapy treatments through workshops, seminars, journals, in-service workshops, conferences, and other professional learning activities.
