Requirements
  • Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in science and extensive experience in radiation planning, or registered Radiation Therapist with experience in dosimetry, or a BS in physical or biologic sciences
  • Proton planning experience preferred
  • Certified in Medical Dosimetry required, or certification needs to be completed within two years of hire
Responsibilities
  • The Medical Dosimetrist functions as an integral member of the Department of Radiation Medicine (or its outreach/affiliates) of the Medical Center, and is thoroughly familiar with geometric characteristics of the radiation equipment and radioactive sources commonly employed; has the training and expertise necessary to generate radiation dose distributions and calculations under the direction of the radiation therapy physicist
  • Operates and performs quality assurance on the treatment planning computer
  • Measures, generates radiation dose distributions and calculations as a member of the treatment planning team
  • Is a member of the treatment planning team in the Department of Radiation Medicine
  • The Medical Dosimetrist measures and generates radiation dose distributions and calculations
