Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Teach and mentor students during experiential clinical coursework as a subject-matter expert.
  • Support an assigned group of students through specialized instruction in challenging experiential and clinical coursework.
  • Interact with students in group and one-on-one settings and oversee their clinical learning and success in clinical placement settings.
  • Provide expertise in an assigned content area and maintain current knowledge in the field.
  • Implement the philosophy and goals of the program.
  • Foster student learning through innovative teaching practices, including teaching duties performed in clinical settings.
  • Make appropriate student referrals for remediation or other needs using university policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with students' assigned coaches or preceptors about student progress and concerns.
  • Provide final review and approval of students' clinical time.
  • Offer proactive support and outreach to assigned students.
  • Use technology-based teaching and communication platforms to support student competency development.
  • Submit electronic clinical student evaluation forms after completion of clinical intensives.
  • Conduct in-person and remote student evaluations.
  • Maintain working knowledge of relevant state regulations.
  • Collaborate with university professionals to support students and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Support the Health Placement Team in securing clinical partnerships.
  • Respond to changing requirements, priorities, and short deadlines.
  • Provide feedback regarding discipline and practice leadership.
  • Support initiatives within the specialty and follow learning, operational quality, department policies, and best-practice guidance.
Desired Qualifications
  • A doctorate or terminal degree in a specific content area is preferred.
  • Strong experience with distance education and distance-learning students is preferred.
  • A terminal degree and all applicable licenses or certifications are preferred.
  • Prior experience in clinical teaching or nursing education is preferred.
