Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Efficient in the operation of office equipment including computers, fax, copiers, and telecommunications systems
  • Must have excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to answer, prioritize and triage telephone calls calmly and professionally
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Highly motivated, organized, and attentive to detail
  • Ability to work based on operational needs of the department
  • Possess ability to relay information, and deal tactfully and harmoniously with others
  • Basic computer skills required
Responsibilities
  • Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner. Ensures the patient feels welcome.
  • Obtains appropriate consent for release of medical records and documents in patient record, log or files/indexes.
  • Takes referrals from physicians and physicians’ offices. Schedules appointments based on diagnosis and other pertinent data.
  • Prepares patient charts. Appropriate knowledge of scanning and indexing.
  • Responsible for maintaining the necessary supplies for the functioning of the office.
  • Accurately enters patient demographic information into computer, files and records patient information accurately and timely.
  • Transcription and other records received are placed into patient charts and/or sent to primary care physician or referring physician in a timely manner.
  • Familiar with close of day policy and procedures.
  • Assists in other areas of department and corporation as needed, completing other duties as assigned.
