Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN
  • Minimum of 1 years’ Women’s Health experience as a PA, WHNP, CNM
  • All certifications must be current and complete prior to start date: Basic Life Support (BLS)
Responsibilities
  • Takes comprehensive history and health assessments for women presenting for urogynecologic care
  • Performs physical examinations, including pelvic exams, in clinic
  • Evaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guidelines
  • Consults with physician when clinically indicated and according to protocols
  • Manages women’s health care patients in the division of Urogynecology
  • Undertakes diagnostic and therapeutic office procedures, such as biopsy, urethral catheterization, and pessary fitting
  • Acts as an OR surgical assist with appropriate certification
  • Performs follow-up notification to patients about results
  • Provides general health education and education about urogynecology-related health problems or situations
  • Performs procedures in accordance with procedural privileges, skill and proficiency as approved by the Clinical Division Chief
  • Cares for simple new patients after physician review
  • Initiates referrals to other health care providers, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physician
  • Documents and bills for direct care provided
  • Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice
  • Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research
  • Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization
  • Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education
  • Potential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student; and facilitates the learning of other new team members
Desired Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years’ Women’s Health experience as a PA, WHNP, CNM
  • WHNP (Women’s Health NP): (12 years to death) OB/GYN services and well women care
  • CNM (Certified Nurse Midwife): OBGYN services and well women care
