Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Candidates must be willing to return to a university to obtain a tuition-reimbursed degree in Special Education and obtain a Special Education Teacher License.
  • Candidates must hold a valid General Education Teaching Certificate with willingness to pursue Special Education Certification, or a bachelor's degree in a related field such as Psychology, Social Work, Applied Behavior Analysis, Disabilities Studies, Sociology, or Health & Human Services.
  • Experience working with students with a range of special education disabilities, including autism, emotional disturbance, traumatic brain injury, and mild to moderate cognitive or developmental disabilities, is required.
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
  • Candidates must be well organized and able to multitask.
Responsibilities
  • Engage in understanding special education curriculum and teaching diverse learners.
  • Teach all subjects in a classroom setting.
  • Provide a differentiated learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, including curriculum and clinical staff, to achieve positive results for students.
  • Personalize learning for students.
  • Provide a social-emotional learning environment.
  • Teach a classroom of approximately 10 students with paraprofessional support.
  • Participate in professional development and receive support from teachers, administrators, curriculum staff, clinical staff, and other support staff.
Desired Qualifications
  • Arizona Substitute Teacher Certification is strongly preferred.
