AT&T makes nearly $5.7 billion in network investment in Florida. 05/28/2026 AT&T invested nearly $5.7 billion in its network infrastructure in Florida from 2021-2025, expanding connectivity and supporting economic opportunity for communities across the state. This investment is part of AT&T's broader commitment to advanced connectivity nationwide. Recently, in conjunction with the 150th anniversary of Alexander Graham Bell's first telephone call, AT&T announced more than $250 billion in investment and spend to support the future of U.S. connectivity, helping build the high-speed networks and resilience needed for innovation and long-term economic growth. "Florida's economy continues to grow because companies are investing in the infrastructure that powers opportunity and innovation across our state," said Mark Wilson, President & CEO, Florida Chamber of Commerce. "Continued investment in advanced communications networks helps strengthen communities, support businesses and keep Florida competitive for the future." AT&T's investment in Florida spans multiple areas of its network, including fiber, 5G and FirstNet(R), Built with AT&T. Expanding Fiber Access To meet growing demand for reliable, high-speed internet, AT&T continues to invest in its fiber network across Florida. - AT&T has deployed more than 8.1 million strand miles of fiber in Florida. - AT&T Fiber is now available to more than 2.74 million customer locations in over 170 localities statewide. AT&T previously announced the acquisition of substantially all of Lumen's Mass Markets fiber internet connectivity business. With the closing of that transaction, AT&T plans to extend its fiber network to approximately 60 million total fiber locations by year-end 2030. In Florida, that expansion includes more than 350,000 new residential and business locations across Southwest Florida, including; Fort Myers, Bonita Springs. Cape Coral. Naples, Port Charlotte, and Sanibel. Connectivity When It Matters Most As public safety's partner, AT&T continues to expand FirstNet, the nation's largest network built with and for public safety. With nearly 3 million square miles of coverage, FirstNet provides first responders with dedicated, reliable connectivity when and where they need it most. In Florida: - Public safety agencies and organizations in more than 750 localities are connected through FirstNet. - Band 14 has been deployed on nearly 3,200 sites statewide to deliver dedicated public safety coverage and capacity. Investing in Communities In addition to network infrastructure, AT&T continues to support digital access initiatives in communities nationwide. The company has committed $5 billion by 2030 to help narrow the digital divide and support 25 million people in getting and staying connected to affordable, high-speed internet and digital resources. AT&T partnered with local nonprofits last year to provide 3,000 free laptops to families and students across the state.
Lifelong learner: Ms. Gales' digital journey. Ms. Brenda Gales spent decades teaching kindergartners how to learn. In retirement, she found that she was now the learner as the digital world continuously moves ahead. CWAers crash AT&T's March Madness Block Party. April 9, 2026 AT&T Orange Mobility workers hired digital billboard trucks and distributed informational flyers last week outside of the AT&T Block Party at the March Madness Music Festival in Indianapolis, Ind. Members mobilized to inform the public about the company's corporate greed and the ongoing contract negotiations. AT&T spends millions of dollars on flashy corporate sponsorships like the NCAA March Madness tournament and free concert events for the public. But CWA members let the public know that these free events are not possible without the wealth created by the workers. CWA and AT&T agreed to a contract extension after an overwhelming 95 percent of voting Orange Mobility members authorized CWA President Claude Cummings Jr. to call a strike if necessary. The contract extension now expires on April 17.
