Requirements
  • Certification as a medical assistant, certified nursing assistant, patient care technician, emergency medical technician, or home health aide in Kansas, or completion of at least one semester of nursing school.
  • A current basic life support or cardiopulmonary resuscitation card is required before participating in patient care activities.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training for sterile technique, maintenance of a sterile field, and instrument care and handling is required for Obstetrics and Surgery.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job electrocardiogram and phlebotomy training is required for Emergency.
  • Basic computer skills are required, with moderate computer skills required for Telesitter.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology is required.
  • The ability to remain calm in stressful situations is required.
  • The role requires the ability to perform very heavy work, occasionally exerting more than 100 pounds and constantly exerting up to 50 pounds, with standing or walking for 75–100% of the workday.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States, as verified through Form I-9 and E-Verify.
Responsibilities
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation in accordance with Health System and affiliate policies.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care according to unit- and department-based competencies, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide directed care to patients from newborn through geriatric age groups to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
  • Comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act privacy and security regulations for all Protected Health Information.
  • Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Certification as a medical assistant, certified nursing assistant, emergency medical technician, or home health aide in Kansas.
  • Phlebotomy Technician certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
