Netflix is a subscription-based streaming service that provides on-demand TV programs, films, anime, and documentaries to a global audience. It streams video through internet-connected devices such as smart TVs, game consoles, PCs, Macs, mobile phones, and tablets, and it does not show advertisements while watching. The pods are heading north: Netflix announces 'Love Is Blind' is coming to Canada. By Alex Nino Gheciu, The Canadian Press Posted Aug 11, 2026 7:00 am. Canadians are finally getting their shot at finding their future spouse through a wall. Netflix announced Tuesday that "Love Is Blind" is coming to Canada. The hit reality series puts single men and women in isolated pods where they "date" and apparently fall in love without ever seeing each other. The catch is they must get engaged before meeting face-to-face. The original U.S. version of "Love Is Blind" premiered in 2020 and became a pandemic-era breakout, eventually spawning adaptations around the world, including in Japan, Brazil, Sweden, the U.K., Mexico and the United Arab Emirates. Casting is now open for the Canadian iteration of the show, which is being produced by Insight Productions, the company behind "Big Brother Canada" and "Canada Shore." Insight co-chief content officer Erin Brock said in a statement that she's "beyond excited" to work with a Canadian cast "who are genuinely open to finding their soulmates, and to share their unique stories and authentic experiences." "I'm one of the gazillion Day-1-diehards who knows how brilliant this format is," she added. The U.S. version of "Love Is Blind" is 10 seasons deep and hosted by Vanessa and Nick Lachey. There is no word yet on who will host the Canadian edition. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Aug. 11, 2026. Netflix to produce documentary on unsolved CAM widow murder. Netflix is finalising plans to film a true-crime documentary in Alicante based on the unsolved murder of CAM widow María del Carmen Martínez. City & Local Guides 11th August 2026 One Min Read Netflix is set to produce a new documentary focused on one of the most high-profile crime cases of recent years in Alicante: the unsolved murder of María del Carmen Martínez, widow of the former vice-president of Caja de Ahorros del Mediterráneo (CAM). The streaming platform is currently concluding contracts and administrative procedures to begin filming in the city of Alicante. The documentary will revisit the intricate details of the Sala case, delving back into the private affairs of a prominent multi-millionaire family that was shattered following the tragic death of its matriarch. The project follows previous true-crime productions set in the region, such as the feature detailing the life of María Jesús Moreno, who was from Novelda. The new documentary on the Sala case is also expected to examine surrounding mysteries, including the investigation into the disappearance and burnt vehicle of businessman Jesús Tavira in Alicante, who was one of the witnesses linked to the case.
