Requirements
  • Approximately 15 years of relevant experience, with the ability to remain hands-on and already understand the federal buying path.
  • Experience carrying business through a Department of Homeland Security component such as Customs and Border Protection and Air and Marine Operations, Coast Guard, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Secret Service, Transportation Security Administration, or DHS Science and Technology.
  • Ability to explain specifically how selling to the Department of Homeland Security differs from selling to a Department of Defense program office.
  • A current, activatable Department of Homeland Security network with named offices and people.
  • Ability to operate autonomously and build a plan where none exists.
  • Candidates must complete a non-disclosure agreement before the company's identity and full role details are shared.
Responsibilities
  • Own the Department of Homeland Security and its components as a customer end to end, including strategy, pipeline, and close.
  • Build the account roadmap from zero, sequence the first doors, and obtain internal buy-in.
  • Shape requirements with the customer, navigate Department of Homeland Security authorities and appropriations, and carry opportunities through award.
  • Bring and activate an existing network across component program offices and operational users.
  • Position counter-unmanned aircraft systems and air defense capabilities against airspace security, border, and critical infrastructure protection needs.
  • Navigate the interagency, state, and local overlay associated with Homeland Security work.
  • Set expectations that engineering can meet and communicate bad news early when it cannot.
  • Grow and lead a team as the account scales.
Desired Qualifications
  • Service in or alongside a Department of Homeland Security component; military service is not required.
  • Coast Guard background bridging military experience and Department of Homeland Security authorities.
  • Counter-unmanned aircraft systems or airspace security sales with an established Homeland Security book of business.
  • Federal law enforcement program experience that included a buying relationship.
