Bird Construction has launched a private placement of senior notes and amended its credit agreement. The proceeds will repay debt under a non-revolving term loan facility and support general corporate purposes. The amendment increases Bird's revolving credit facility from $400 million to $500 million and extends the maturity date to 3 September 2029. The security requirement for Bird's obligations under the credit agreement has been removed. The senior notes will be unsubordinated obligations guaranteed by Bird's subsidiaries. These changes aim to enhance the company's financial flexibility and reduce debt servicing costs whilst optimising its capital structure.
Bird Construction reported strong Q1 2026 results with construction revenue of $783.4 million, up 9.2% year over year. The company posted net income of $11.4 million, or $0.21 per share, with adjusted earnings of $13.9 million. Bird Construction Inc reported a record backlog exceeding $11 billion in Q4 2025, representing 45% growth over 2024. The company secured $4.7 billion worth of work during the year and achieved a full-year gross profit margin of 10.5%, up from 9.7% in 2024. However, the company posted a net loss of $14 million in Q4, primarily due to a $62.2 million impairment on accounts receivable related to customer creditworthiness concerns. Revenue remained flat compared to 2024, affected by project delays and unfavourable weather conditions. Bird Construction's acquisition of FRPD expanded its self-performed capabilities in marine construction and dredging. The company expects double-digit revenue growth in 2026, with 54% of its backlog scheduled for execution during the year.
