Requirements
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is required.
  • Registered nurse licensure by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state is required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
  • Registered nurses hired with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing must enroll in an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program within two years and successfully obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
  • Ability to perform the stated standing, sitting, walking, stair-climbing, indoor, outdoor, elevated-area, confined-space, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, pinching, grasping, fine-manipulation, reaching, repetitive-motion, lifting, carrying, force-exertion, vision, color-discrimination, depth-perception, peripheral-vision, hearing, tactile-sensory, and gross-motor functions.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
  • Ability to work in a latex-safe environment.
  • Ability to be physically qualified for respirator use initially and as required for selected positions.
Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized, goal-directed patient care to patients and families at the competent level using the principles and practices of the nursing process.
  • Provide nursing care using assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Direct and lead assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide age- and developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Provide patient- and family-centered care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
  • Perform nursing diagnoses, outcome identification, care planning, intervention implementation, care coordination, health teaching and promotion, and evaluation of goals and interventions consistent with MUSC policies.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment through patient privacy and responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior.
  • Participate in shared governance, peer review, professional development, and a professional practice model that promotes leadership and clinical excellence.
  • Apply effective team skills, autonomous practice, accountability, and critical thinking.
  • Coordinate the effective and efficient delivery of patient care services through care management principles.
  • Identify clinical priorities and initiate actions to improve patient outcomes.
  • Promote a healthy work environment and accept personal responsibility for professional growth.
Desired Qualifications
